This comprehensive training course covers all aspects of personal care support work. From grooming techniques to mandatory health and safety procedures for manual handling, you will learn how to provide the highest quality care and maintain clients’ dignity during their vulnerable moments while ensuring the safety of both you and the client.

Course Introduction

In an industry where Autism Spectrum Disorder and Dementia are prevalent, this is an important course for Support Workers and carers. During the training, you will learn how to recognise various characteristics and traits of persons on the spectrum and how to manage and provide assistance to ASD clients under your care as well as the different types of dementia and how to manage and adapt their care techniques for clients with dementia.

      This course gives students a good understanding of the human respiratory system and the medical conditions requiring oxygen therapy. Students will learn how to manage and support clients and receive hands-on training on the equipment and procedures used in caring for clients who require oxygen support.

      Course Introduction

      Introduction to the basics of a Home Support Worker role. Useful tips and tools, as well as universal policies and procedures applied to the in-home and community care industry. Thorough and compliant documentation is a requirement of the NDIS and Aged Care commissions for all service providers. This course will instruct you on documenting a client’s progress after a shift, reporting incidents and recording medical treatments provided.

      Epilepsy and Seizure Training For Support Workers

      Length of Course:  3 hours

      Course Introduction

      Epilepsy & Seizure Training covers an introduction to the nervous system and ensures an understanding of epilepsy and its different types. The training covers differentiating between a seizure and epilepsy, the risks associated and how support workers/carers can support and care for clients with this condition. The course will also cover monitoring and equipment used and, importantly, emergency management, including the administration of midazolam. The approach ensures that staff can document and report and will also be required to demonstrate the skill during a practical.

      • Describe what epilepsy is.
      • Explain the differences between a seizure and epilepsy.
      • Identify different types of seizures and epilepsy.
      • Identify causes and triggers of epilepsy and seizure management.
      • Describe treatment options, including midazolam treatment.
      • Administer basic first aid and midazolam for a seizure.
      • Record findings, incidences appropriately.
      • Know your scope of practice as a Home Support Worker.
