Course Introduction

The Diabetes Care Training Course provides essential knowledge for aged care, disability, and home care workers supporting clients living with diabetes. This course equips care providers with the skills needed to recognise symptoms, monitor blood sugar levels, and safely support individuals managing their condition in home and community care settings.

Participants will learn about the causes and origins of diabetes, the different types of the condition, and the common signs and symptoms that may affect a person’s health and wellbeing. The training focuses on identifying and responding to changes in blood sugar levels, including recognising and managing high and low blood sugar episodes.

The course also covers diabetes medications and treatments, monitoring techniques, understanding potential side effects, and recognising when a client’s condition requires additional support. Participants will also explore risk factors, prevention strategies, and relevant policies and procedures for safely supporting individuals with diabetes.

By completing this course, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to monitor changes, respond appropriately to blood sugar fluctuations, and support clients living with diabetes safely and effectively.
