Course Introduction

The Epilepsy and Seizure Management Training Course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for aged care, disability, and home care workers supporting individuals living with epilepsy or seizure disorders. This course helps care providers recognise seizure activity, respond safely, and support clients in accordance with care plans and organisational procedures.

Participants will develop an understanding of how the nervous system works and learn what epilepsy is, including the difference between epilepsy and seizures. The training explores the different types of seizures and epilepsy, as well as common causes, triggers, and strategies for seizure management.

The course also covers treatment options, including the use of prescribed emergency seizure medication, and provides guidance on administering basic seizure first aid. Participants will also learn how to accurately record incidents, follow documentation procedures, and report concerns appropriately.
