This course is an essential training program for providers wanting to remain compliant with disability and aged care regulations, ensuring staff understand their responsibilities when assisting with medications.

Participants will learn how to read and understand a medication chart, develop an understanding of basic medication terminology, and apply the seven rights of medication to ensure safe practice. The training also explains how to identify a client’s individual medication needs and differentiate between medication administration, prompting, and self-administration.

The course also covers organisational policies and procedures for medication administration, including how to identify and respond to medication incidents, report concerns, and follow correct documentation and escalation processes.

A practical component allows participants to develop confidence in medication administration techniques and procedures, helping ensure medications are handled safely and in accordance with care plans and regulatory expectations.
