Course Introduction
The Palliative Care Training Course is an essential program for aged care and home care providers preparing to deliver services under the new Support at Home Program. Designed to build confidence, knowledge, and compassionate care practices, this course equips care workers and providers with the practical skills required to support clients and families through the palliative care journey.
Participants will learn effective communication strategies, understand the five stages of palliative care, and gain insight into what to expect during the final stages of life, including recognising common phenomena that may occur. The course also covers critical topics such as Advanced Care Planning and Directives, Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD), medication management in palliative care, and practical care techniques such as Dermalux bed bath care.
This training is highly recommended for providers seeking to register for Palliative Care services under the Support at Home Program, ensuring teams are prepared to deliver safe, respectful, and person-centred end-of-life care.
By completing this course, providers will strengthen their ability to support clients receiving palliative care at home with dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
