Course Introduction

The Parkinson’s Care Training Course is designed to equip care professionals, support workers, and family members caring for a loved one living with Parkinson’s disease with the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that can affect movement, communication, cognition, and daily living activities. This course helps participants understand Parkinson’s disease, its symptoms, and how it progresses, while providing practical strategies to help individuals maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Participants will learn how to recognise common symptoms and changes associated with Parkinson’s, understand the importance of medication timing and management, and develop effective approaches to support mobility, communication, and daily care needs. The training also explores ways to respond to challenges such as changes in mood, cognition, and physical ability.

Importantly, this course is not only valuable for aged care, disability, and home care professionals, but also for family members and informal carers who want to better understand the condition and provide informed, supportive care at home.

By completing this course, participants will gain the confidence and practical tools to deliver person-centred Parkinson’s care, improving comfort, safety, and wellbeing for those living with the condition.
