Course Introduction
The Dementia and Elder Abuse Care Training Course provides essential knowledge for aged care, disability, and home care workers supporting people living with dementia. It is also valuable for family members caring for a loved one with dementia who want to better understand the condition and provide safe, supportive care at home.
This course covers understanding dementia, the different types of dementia, and the common signs and symptoms that affect memory, behaviour, and daily functioning. Participants will also learn about dementia risk reduction and practical strategies for support workers managing and supporting clients living with dementia using a person-centred approach.
The training also addresses the important issue of elder abuse, helping participants learn how to identify potential signs of abuse and understand the appropriate steps for reporting concerns to protect vulnerable older people.
By completing this course, participants will gain practical knowledge and confidence to support people living with dementia while helping ensure their safety, dignity, and wellbeing.
