Meet Georgina, our passionate and dedicated Training Representative at Skills Centre Australia, whose journey into healthcare and care staff training is rooted in personal resilience and a deep commitment to helping others.
Georgina, who initially joined Skills Centre Australia as one of our Clinical Training Officers, quickly became a cherished member of our small team. She’s always up for a challenge, even if that comes in the form of a silly TikTok video for Marketing, and is always a kind and caring face in our clinic. Georgina draws upon her clinical and caregiving background to bring a lived experience and perspective to our care staff training, and she has developed and blossomed into our Training Representative.
A Family Legacy of Care
Georgina’s career path has been anything but conventional, yet each step has been marked by care, compassion, and a drive to grow. Her professional life began behind a McDonald’s counter, where she worked as a cashier for four years. But her family’s legacy in nursing—her mother, grandmother, and aunt all having walked that path—inspired her to make a bold move into healthcare.
“I think it was in my DNA,” she says of her decision to become a nurse.
Georgina completed her Certificate III in Individual Support and worked as a support worker for seven years, gaining hands-on experience in caregiving. Her dedication to the profession led her to pursue a Diploma of Nursing, after which she worked as an Enrolled Nurse for over a year. Life then took a turn as she embraced the role of a full-time stay-at-home mum to her son, Jayjay, while caring for her grandmother through her final years.
An Unlocked Passion for Care Staff Training
Her return to the workforce included a stint in a bakery and then a role at Centrelink’s families department, but Georgina still felt a strong pull towards a more impactful role. This led her to KompleteCare, where she started as a Case Manager and swiftly became Team Leader, overseeing teams in Modbury and Kilburn. While there, she completed her TAE (Training and Assessment qualification) and stepped into the position of Clinical Training Officer, a role that unlocked her passion for teaching.
Now, two years into her training journey, Georgina proudly serves as a Training Representative at Skills Centre Australia. Her dedication to educating and empowering future care workers is evident in every class she leads.
“When I heard Skills Centre was looking for a trainer, I knew I had to go for it. Sharing what I’ve learned in the field is something I truly love,” Georgina shares.
Life Beyond the Classroom
Outside of work, Georgina finds joy in the simple but meaningful moments of life. Whether sipping coffee with her mother and sister on weekends, hiking in the hills with her dad and dogs, or unwinding on the couch with her partner watching their favourite series, her strong sense of family and connection shines through. She also cherishes time spent catching up with close friends—another key part of her personal well-being.
Looking to the Future
Looking ahead, Georgina’s goal for 2025 is clear: to continue thriving in her role and helping Skills Centre Australia grow in impact and reach.
From her early days in customer service to becoming an instrumental part of the Skills Centre Australia care staff training team, Georgina’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, purpose, and heart.
